Training #1: Navigating Bias, Ethics Issues and Tools in Selection and Recruitment

The BIAS is organising an immersive online training session designed specifically for HR professionals. In this dynamic course, we delve into the intricate world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its profound impact on HR functions. Through interactive modules, participants will gain invaluable insights into understanding and mitigating bias, exploring the ethical dimensions of AI adoption, and mastering the implementation of AI technologies in recruitment processes.

Key Learning Objectives:

  1. Understanding bias: Presentation of the theoretical and sociological underpinnings of bias, prejudices, and stereotypes.
  2. AI models: Insights into the functioning and logic behind various AI models, alongside their potential and limitations in HR contexts.
  3. Ethical implications: Reflection on the ethical dimensions of AI, particularly concerning bias and discrimination, and exploration of responsible approaches and standards to address these concerns.
  4. GDPR compliance: Teaching of the basics of GDPR compliance in HR practices, particularly concerning personal data and its implications in AI-driven recruitment.
  5. AI in recruitment: Exploration of the diverse landscape of AI tools and technologies in recruitment processes, and assessment of their impact on candidate experience and decision-making.
  6. Promoting critical thinking: Fostering of the critical thinking skills in questioning AI outputs, nurturing trust in individual judgment, and encouraging critical dialogue surrounding AI applications.

Methodological Approaches

The training course will leverage on the up-to-date knowledge generated within the BIAS, and along with informative input, will make extensive use of interactive and participatory adult learning methodologies, such as:

  • Case studies analysis: Real-world case studies to understand the experiences and challenges faced by minority groups in recruitment and beyond within AI applications.
  • Practice sessions: Engagement in hands-on exercises, including prompt engineering and interaction with real AI-based technologies, to reinforce learning and address related challenges.
