This position paper advocates for using value sensitive design (VSD) to develop fair AI recruitment tools, addressing the limitations of current AI fairness paradigms in hiring. It details an ongoing effort within the EU Horizon project BIAS, focusing on diversity and fairness in candidate selection. The paper presents case-based reasoning as a case study for incorporating stakeholder views on fairness and explores expanding this approach through agonistic machine learning, aiming to contribute to the ethical design and use of AI in the labour market.
